melissabenoist I wanted to be a paleontologist before I wanted to act. This cake sort of marries the two which makes me HAPPY. so do all of the birthday wishes and getting to spend it at work with such wonderful people, so thanks for that đ (Ian Malcom is on my bday cake đ & SG is on Isla Nublar?!?!)
have you considered that Kara was really into music as a child because well, she couldnât exactly be into sports with her powers, after all, and she is the only one with knowledge of Kryptonian music. If she doesnât learn to play it herself, then she will never hear it again. And the instruments arenât quite the same, but theyâre similar enough that when she plays for a moment she can fool herself into believing that her parents would just be right there when she looked up
Okay, I like your thought. Â (I meant it when I was stalking your blog tags and that you have awesome thoughts)
Have you also considered that it is through music, through playing music, that Kara being to gain and later hones her control? Â Music is sound but itâs also touch. Â Itâs vibration and force and knowing exactly what pressure or exhale is required to strike the note right. Â Itâs in knowing how much to manipulate or adjust that resulting sound to produce something even greater.
Kara is awkward and anxious, but sheâs not a klutz. Â Sheâs managed -in ten years- to go from suddenly having super-strength, speed, and senses to having pretty damned good control of them. Â While growing, while experiencing this new, alien world around her. Â And while, you know, dealing with the grief of losing everything sheâs ever known including her remaining purpose in life.
Headcanon: if Kara learns and/or teaches herself music, this is one of the ways she finds to hone her control and mastery over her abilities on the finer end of the scale. Â This still leaves the upper spectrum as relatively inexperienced, which works into canon. Â (And @mysteriousangstninja, this would totally work in with one of those ideas weâve been talking about.)
Which then leads me to the inevitable: Karaâs got a lot of nervous actions, we already know that, but add that with an inclination towards music, towards touch and rhythm and the soothing pattern edged out with finger tips?  Karaâs always going to be hesitant with her strength, but one thing she learned from music was how to touch lightly.  It tends to be lost on most, who think itâs insignificant from how faint it is.  Itâs barely there and everyone is too busy to really pay attention.  But imagine someone who isnât. Someone who stops and takes the time and realises that Karaâs got an unfathomable gentleness about her touch.  She can make instruments sing, can draw the most exquisite of hums from string and marvels at each percussive vibration.  Drums and strings and woodwinds are all amazing, but its humans who make Kara light up with delight. Â
Of course, now I think I want a musician AU, but Iâm pretty sure Iâd be happy in seeing any form of musical!Kara played out.
# oh my god i love this so much # like there is also a kind of safety in fame too # because it is so much harder to disappear a famous person than it is an anonymous one # one who is beloved by the public and would have more than one person fight for them # like alex would worry both more and less because there are so many people watching kara # that can easily see her lose control but at the same time so many people watching her means alex can relax just a littel bit more # because kara being americaâs sweetheart kind of thing # and music is something that kara doesnt have to feel guilty about using her powers for # or thinking it gives her an unfair advt compared to like maybe an athlete or something because the part of music it is for other people # and iâm just assuming here kara is at least somewhat famous # like has a p specific following
note: donât know who these are for the most part! they might be gay, i just found them on google images. also this isnât a ranked list i just like numbers
1. tapered and long
the top two are probably the best approximation of this cut. i like it because itâs floofy but you donât necessarily have to have curls to pull it off
2. bowl cut pixie
ngl i thought i wasnât going to like this but iâm actually a huge fan. gives me kind of edgy lisbeth salander vibes. this would be a really good way for femmes to flag too because itâs kinda off center of straight fashion
3. buzzcut
a classique and sexie look. buzzcuts looks rly good when theyâre dyed if youâre into that (i especially love obnoxiously bright colours). if weâre doing characters, this reminds me of furiosa obviously and we all know sheâs a lesbian legend
4. undercut
iâm obsessed with undercuts. it looks so so cute with curly hair or straight hair. i also like how it can be really soft or really severe depending on how you style it. itâs also super androgynous
5. short shag
terrible name but a super cute haircut. itâs softer than some of the other ones i have listed if thatâs what youâre into. looks cute with curly or straight hair. gives me a bit of baby butch vibes.
6. pompadour
love it! classic! that janelle monae look? beautiful. it lengthens your face if that sweetens the deal for anyone. very dependable and handsome butch look. would highly recommend.
7. curly mohawk
this hairstyle is VERY important to me as a gay because it makes women look beautiful. the top right girl is literally my dream girl. also you can style it soft or really punk which is super hot.
8. random pics of women i found
wow i fuckign. i just love women! look at that! we really do short hair well ladies! thanks for reading my post i hope you enjoyed
As someone that identifies with butch, this makes me happy đ
I think I might show one of these to my hairdresser next time I get a cut Holy shit I love these
i imagine getting my own place all the time and going down to the grocery store early in the morning before everyone else and to the coffee shop and having a really small place with wide windows and lots of plants and shelves of books and a tiny kitchen where i can make tea and noodles and a bed with a pile of blankets and just a place i can make uniquely my own or maybe a place i could share with someone but i just think about this place a lot idk
One of my professors is an extremely famous, well-known painter who has been in galleries since he was a young man in the 80s. He once asked me in class, âAlyssa, what are your dreams and aspirations for the future?â
You should have seen the puzzled look on his face when I described something similar to the post above.
âWhy so humble?!â He laughed. âYou know youâre talented, right? You could aspire to a lot more than that for sure.â
And I had to take that moment to explain to him that this is what my generation is given, this is how low our standards for happiness have to be. A humble existence, a small piece of the world for ourselves, and comfortable stability are just as out of reach for some of us as fame and reknown was for him in the 80âs. His face went somber immediately.
