The number of diverse YA titles — when diverse means main characters of color, LGBT and/or disabled main characters — has remained flat. There has been no improvement overall since last year.

She even spent a week enamoured with Mr. Schue, but their love was far more endless than she would have once hoped.
Perhaps that’s why she and Brody never lasted. There were never enough duets between them. He’d always complained that New Yorkers didn’t burst into song randomly — though if they didn’t, Rachel had to wonder who did.
But perhaps that’s also why she can’t get Cassandra July, her thirty-something, alcoholic, joke of a dance teacher out of her head.
