Presenting as an omega is never easy, but Alex hadn’t realized how much it would derail her life. Her family was not part of the upper echelons, but she was smart, smart enough to be given scholarships and the chance to do research at LordTech while still in high school. She’d been worth something. But when the heat came, when she couldn’t even stand, when she was sweating and needy and desperate, it turned out her body was worth more than her mind.
It was a lot to deal with, and getting out of Max Lord’s control hadn’t been easy. Then what? She hadn’t even graduated high school. She had few skills and fewer connections. So she did the job she knew how to do.
Her beta friend Lucy helped her out, vetted her clients, got her better prices, and wrote her contracts. She got by, mostly.
And then she got a call.
There’s an alpha couple, one of them wants to hire you for the other’s birthday. Rut present. The one I’ve been talking to seems … fun. Good family, the black sheep probably. But she’ll pay top rates. Wants you to feel comfortable. I know two alphas are usually a no go, but how about it?
Alex looks at the calendar and when her rent is due and says yes.
She doesn’t really think about it. She knows what she’s doing. She can handle anything. She has.
Maggie and Astra turned out to not be anything she was prepared to handle at all.
