The moonlight was softly brushing the muscles of Kara’s back, making the skin sparkle and glow in its glorious nakedness. An ocean of sun kissed hair was spilling in waves on the white pillowcases, golden strands that looked like silver in the darkness of the night and there was the shadow of a smile, floating softly across Kara’s lips.
Cat stared, too amazed to even remember to breathe, wondering how on Heaven and Earth, she had end up spending the night with the girl who once was her assistant, who also happened to be an alien, the girl of Steel herself.
She didn’t even drink more than two martinis and to her, it was like drinking water given the very, very high tolerance to alcohol she had cultivated since her crazy year in college.“Stop thinking, more sleeping.”
Kara’s whisper took her by surprise and she startled a little when two strong arms came to circle her waist, pulling her closer to the warm and half-asleep body laying by her sides.
“You’ll think about it tomorrow and you’ll probably flee but that alright. I’ll chase you,” Kara mumbled without opening her eyes, and her words crashed onto Cat’s skin like a summer breeze, bold and yet soft, relaxing.
“You will?” Cat hated how unsure and insecure she sounded but she could already sense the anxiety tingle at the tip of her fingers and spreading in her veins like a wildfire.
“I will,” Kara replied and even though she was already falling back asleep, there was such a steeled edge in her voice, in her simple words, Cat felt the fire of her doubts slow down and then stop, leaving her exhausted but at peace.
“Thank you,” She whispered before placing a soft kiss at the corner of Kara’s lips, making a wide but sleepy smile appear. She buried herself into the embrace of the girl of steel’s arms and fell back asleep to the sound of their synchronized heartbeats.
