Cat doesn’t enjoy corporate events. She knows some people who love them, love schmoozing and posing for the camera doing good deeds and whatever else there is, but she has never been one of them. When she ran everything, she could show up, say a few words, and no one would think twice if she slipped out afterward; it was always believable that she was too busy to stick around. Now she feels more like a mascot than anything. She’s not running Catco, which she’s happy about; it’s given her time and space to move toward other things. Unfortunately, she’s still the face of Catco enough that it only makes sense for her to be at this event at a farm of all places. She’d love to make an appearance and then disappear, but she doesn’t have that option anymore. Doesn’t have any excuse and doesn’t have Kara’s unobtrusive apologies to cover for her as she leaves.
