Are we just Power Rangers? Or are we friends?

Literally why this movie worked SO WELL. On the most basic level it did the formula thing–characters find out they have super powers, train, defeat the big evil. But Power Rangers was so much more than that–they actually BECAME FRIENDS in a way that felt really realistic (and wonderful!) and that the movie allowed space for them to do before they got the suits… and they were also basically literally the Breakfast Club I have so much love for this movie.
